About Us
Target Disaster Response Force (TDRF) is a nationally recognized voluntary disaster management organization committed to strengthening community resilience and emergency preparedness across India. Established in 2005, TDRF operates under the guidance of the Target Disaster & Defence Council (TDDC) and has been actively contributing to disaster risk reduction, capacity building, and humanitarian response.
TDRF focuses on developing a trained and disciplined volunteer force by providing structured training in disaster management, search & rescue, first aid, fire safety, and emergency response systems. The organization works extensively with youth, educational institutions, government bodies, and communities to create a culture of preparedness and rapid response.
With a strong presence in multiple districts, TDRF has successfully trained thousands of volunteers and conducted numerous disaster preparedness programs, mock drills, and awareness campaigns. The organization has also actively participated in real-time emergency situations, including flood relief operations, borewell rescue missions, and community-based disaster response initiatives.
TDRF is committed to supporting national disaster management frameworks by aligning its activities with the guidelines of NDMA, NDRF, and other government agencies.
History
The journey of TDRF began on 9 May 2005, with a vision to promote disaster preparedness and community resilience. The organization was formally registered in 2009.
Shri Harishchandra Rathod devoted himself to the study and practice of various aspects of disaster management and began conducting awareness programs and training sessions for citizens and youth. The first official disaster management training program conducted by TDRF was organized on 1 January 2012.
Uttarakhand Rescue — 2013
In June 2013, Shri Harishchandra Badrinath Rathod, along with the team of TDRF, reached Rudraprayag district to assist affected people. The team actively participated in rescue and relief operations and provided free assistance to displaced and homeless families by distributing food, medicines, and essential relief materials.
Suraj Borewell Rescue — 2015
On 31 January 2015, a two-year-old boy named Suraj accidentally fell into a borewell in Nignur village of Umarkhed taluka, Yavatmal district. Shri Harishchandra Badrinath Rathod led the rescue operation and successfully brought the child out safely after nearly 14 hours of continuous and tireless efforts.

TDRF’s mission is to strengthen disaster preparedness and community safety through practical training, awareness, and active citizen participation. It aims to empower youth with essential life-saving skills while fostering discipline, responsibility, and a spirit of national service.
